About the Free domain: what’s included and what happens after one year
Hosting is free forever as long as you stay on the One App Free plan. The custom domain works a bit differently – and it’s good to be transparent with your audience about it.
For Odoo Online databases, Odoo lets you register one custom domain for free for the first year (e.g., yourbrand.com)
After that first year:
- Odoo keeps managing the domain in partnership with Gandi.net
- You start paying the normal renewal price from the registrar (no crazy markup, just a regular domain renewal),
- Odoo sends you a renewal quote before the expiration date, and if you confirm it, the domain is renewed automatically.
So the “domain story” is:
- year 1 – free domain + free hosting,
